Steven Townsend- Grandfather (Alive- Lives in Viridian City)
History:
Kai was born to Larry and Kyra Townsend on a blustery and cold late October day in Pewter City in Kanto. His father was a race car enthusiast and was quick to introduce his son to the sport when he was old enough, hooking the young boy at age 7 to drive go-karts. Kai was a late bloomer when it came to learning about Pokemon however, preferring to spend countless hours in the garage with his father, learning about different car parts and tools, which added to his mechanical know-how as he loves fixing many different things. During his time in Kanto, He also learned a lot about working on a ranch from his grandparents who own a small Pokemon Ranch just outside of Viridian City. At age 12, after numerous go-kart titles, Kai and his family had to move as his father had to transfer to Fall City because of his job.
The next year was extremely stressful in the boy's life, as he had to adjust to making new friends, which wasn't easy for him, considering he wasn't as in-tune with Pokemon as many of the other kids seemed to be. He continued to race, but struggled to his new surroundings. At age 15, he witnessed his father's death in a racing accident, causing Kai to lose his courage slightly, losing his edge slightly to continue racing, even though to this day his passion for it is still there and usually quite apparent, still he continues to repair his father's damaged racecar when he has free time to head back to Fall City to visit his mother and has even filled in for injured drivers throughout the region, though he often tries to cover this fact up. The next year, Kai was searching for a purpose in life and entered the Ranger Academy, eventually graduating and getting placed in Ringtown.
On his 16th birthday, Kai received Blaze, his Growlithe, from his grandparents who live back in Kanto, and the two continue to bond well as Kai continues to pick up on the basics of caring for the firedog, as well as continue to improve on the finer arts of becoming a better Pokemon Ranger.
Example Role-play:
Enjoying time back at home, Kai was in his garage with Rock Music blasting loudly, with his head underneath the damaged dirt late model, a 750 horsepower beast of a racecar that could reach speeds in excess of 115 miles per hour on the slick dirt tracks that he and his father used to race on. In between the clinks of metal and the whir of an electric power drill, it was hard for Blaze, Kai's Growlithe to get a wink of rest, the fire pokemon growling in protest of the boy's late night work on the car.
Slowly getting up from his spot, Blaze slinked over quietly and snatched up a certain wrench that Kai was going to need and hid it underneath himself, smirking slightly as he laid down and closed his eyes.
"Hmm, the oil lines are intact, I can't wait until I have the money and time to mount the engine in this beast...though before I can do that, there's a lot more to do here..." Kai muttered, reaching out for his wrench and sweatdropping when he only got air in the process. "What on earth did I do with that thing?" He growled, scratching his head.
Blaze barked lowly, mockingly towards Kai, in almost a chuckle as he knew where the wrench was, and was in no hurry to share its location.
Hearing Blaze's bark, Kai tried to sit up, forgetting that he was on a sliding board underneath the race car, and WHAM!! "OWWW!! BLAZE!!" He cried out, seeing a few stars. Quickly sliding out from under the car, Kai got up and the chase through the house was on...
"GET BACK HERE WITH THAT WRENCH BLAZE!! DON'T MAKE ME THROW YOUR SQUEAKY TOY AWAY!!"
A couple of exchanges and a case of a charred up face later, Kai had his wrench back and Blaze was laying in the corner with his toy, squeaking it mockingly at the boy.
"Oi...What a bother..." Kai said with a deep sigh, continuing his work.
((I hope thats alright with all the side stuff, I really love my detail ;D))
