Name: Jessa Maybelle
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Occupation: She runs her own postal service.
Base: Due to the nature of her work, Jessa generally just crashes wherever she happens to be, but she does have a home waiting for her in Summerland where she initially started running her service - but don't expect to find her there.
Partner Pokemon: She isn't a Ranger, nor does she have 'partner Pokemon', but she does have quite a few bird type Pokemon that are willing to work with her. The list occasionally changes, but as of right now it stands at: A relaxed Pelipper, a small flock of Pidgey, a tetchy Skarmory that will sometimes consent to be ridden but should never be crossed, a sleepy Noctowl for nighttime rush deliveries, and her longtime friend, Altaria, who generally doesn't leave her except in cases of emergencies. All these Pokemon are trained to deliver messages and packages they can handle. Jessa is currently looking into other types of mail travel, so she's even more absent from home than she usually is.
Canon or OC: OC
Appearance: Ash blonde hair falls to her waist if let loose, but it's usually pulled back into a slender rope of a braid that stops a little further up her back. This hair fits in well with her slender physique that makes her seem taller than she is - and at 5'2", she feels as though she needs all the help she can get. Jessa's skin is the pale sort that burns easily and freckles well, so she has a smattering of freckles across her nose and cheeks, and uses liberal amounts of sunscreen to keep her skin from going red. Her eyes are intelligent green, and magnified, rather than hidden, by the frames that rest precariously on her nose.
Despite her dislike of her height, Jessa wears very sensible sneakers that do nothing to add to it. They're also a sensible black - any other color would have been ruined by now, considering how much time she spends outside. Along with this, jeans and T-shirts seem to be the staple of her wardrobe in warm weather, sometimes with a very pretty jean jacket that's sturdy and shows her off rather nicely. Not much changes in cooler weather, except for the change of T-shirts to long sleeves, and a heavy blue winter coat that she'll wear sometimes. She tends to wear more earthy colors, such as greens and browns, and dislikes pastels.
Personality: Jessa's the kind of person you'd want with you in a crisis. She's level-headed, easily adapts to difficult situations, and can focus on what needs to be done without letting her emotions get in the way. But there's a little more to her than that - she's stubborn and has a bit of a temper that you wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of, and there's a bit of recklessness thrown in for good measure.
She's also a very outdoorsy type person, and dislikes being cooped up inside for extended periods of times. She has a hatred of the cold that only a Summerlander would understand, and she loves to run. Jessa is a kind-hearted soul and has a good sense of humor, even first thing in the morning, to the amazement of most of the people who aren't good in mornings.
Family: Jessa comes from a family of seven - her mother was an operator, her father a mechanic, and they had five kids over the space of about thirteen years. Jessa has two older siblings; Kevin, who, at 27, has a wife and a kid of his own on the way and has a scientific job at Altru Tower, and Joseph, who is still brash at 25 and is currently getting himself into all sorts of trouble as a Wintown Ranger. Her younger sibs, on the other hand... At 18, Lena has boy problems and Ranger issues, and her baby brother Travis is just now graduating Ranger School.
History: Jessa was born and raised in Summerland. Early on in life she proved herself to be both a Pokemon-lover and an outside-lover, and those things stuck with her. When she was very little, she started playing with a Swablu that wandered into Summerland one day, and that cemented what was to be a lifelong friendship. She trained Swablu to be able to take notes back and forth, and that was where the idea for a postal service came from. Today she runs what has become the main postal service for the Almia and Fiore regions.
Example Role-play: Jessa moaned, shivered, and tucked herself further into her thick winter coat, hands encased in mittens that were then shoved into pockets. A scarf wound itself several times around her neck and a hat had been stuffed onto her head. "I guess I should be glad it isn't Shiver Camp," she muttered. "but Wintown's just as bad."
"Oh, come on, Jessa! It's not that bad!" Joseph grinned at his little sister and slung an arm around her shoulders, ignoring her when she stuck her tongue out at him. "The air is clean and pure, the breeze is nice -"
"The breeze is about to blow me off the mountain," Jessa informed him tartly.
Joseph just sighed and rolled his eyes as his little sister pulled away from his grip and stomped back towards the ranger base. He'd almost forgotten how much she hated the cold. "You know Leader's not here, right?"
"I'll wait for her inside!" Jessa called back. "She called me here, the least she can do is let me unfreeze!" And with that, she slipped inside the base and shut the door firmly behind her. Altaria peered over at him from her perch on the roof. "Taria," she told him.
"Yeah, yeah, I know," Joseph waved off the bird's concerns. "She'll be less tetchy when Elita gets here and gives her that package she wants delivered. I'm not worried."
He could have sworn Altaria rolled her eyes. "Altaria tar."
"Don't give me that."
